Christchurch

Day 1. 25 Dec (Fri)

Dad & Mum sent us to Changi Airport T1 @ 1745hours & check-in to Quantas flight QF 6 was smooth & quick. As usual, we shopped at the DFS area but for the first time, I didn't buy any beauty products! *save $$$* :)

Instead, we got Hershey's dark chocolate truffles & an expensive but delicious looking box of chocolate cookies.. Keeping my fingers crossed that there's nil problem bringing it into NZ & hopefully it's as delicious as it looks!

(Afternote: YES, its really delicious! Finished it within 2 days & contemplating to buy more on the way back!)

Will be transiting in Sydney which is 7.5 hours away from SG.

Onward flight to Christchurch will cover 2150km in 3 hours. The Quantas flight was surprisingly pleasant.

Day 2. 26 Dec (Sat)

Arrived in Christhurch, also known as the Garden City on 26 Dec ~2pm local time (NZ is GMT +13, 5 hours ahead of SG.) We checked into Holiday Inn on Avon which is approximately 15mins from the airport.

After refreshing ourselves, we head towards the city centre by foot.

Relaxed at the Botanic Garden with an ice cream & magazine in toll.. Absolutely blissful. I had chocolate & nut sundae while Gerald ordered a giantic cone with raspberry sauce.

Nearby is the Avon River with punts (a flat bottom boat) gliding downstream.

Right in the middle of the city lies The Cathedral, a stunning architectural structure built in gothic tradition from Canterbury stone & timber completed in 1881.

Featured at the Cathedral Square is the 18m high metal Chalice sculpture, created by Neil Dawson to acknowledge the new millennium.

Restored Trams operate a 2.5km inner city loop.

Due to boxing day holiday, most shops along the Oxford Tce, Colombo Shopping strip & Lichfield Street were closed.

During Summer, daylight remain beyond 9pm. Awesome for travellers like us to see & do more!
